Safety

Treeplanter in the Field

At Little Smokey Forestry Services, we take the safety of our team members, our clients, their property and the environment very seriously. No matter what it is that we're hired to do, we strive to create a working environment that's free of injuries and/or damage.

We work according to the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and ensure all of our employees are properly informed and trained, when it comes to our health and safety program.

  • Employees receive training at the start of each planting season
  • Training includes emergency evacuation and procedures, bear awareness and cut block safety
  • Little Smokey employees possess varying levels of certification according to their job tasks, which include
    • WHMIS
    • TDG
    • Danger Tree Assessment
    • Occupational First Aid
    • H2S
    • ATV/UTV
    • ARGO
    • Enform Chainsaw Training
    • CSTS
    • OSSA, etc.
  • Pre-Access drug and alcohol testing is provided for clients who require this for their work environments.

We've created a COR managed safety manual that's specific to our jobsite and reforestation conditions in general, and are active participants in Alberta's Partners in Injury Reduction program. In an effort to refine and mange our safety program, our company has obtained certification with both Comply Works and ISNetworld.
